It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already around the corner! It has been unseasonably warm and exceptionally beautiful this fall here in Colorado. I'm definitely looking forward to celebrating this holiday with family and good food.
November is such a choppy month when it comes to schoolwork. We're off to honor Veterans Day, then we have a week off for Thanksgiving, so I like to have small, mini-units to help keep the energy and momentum up. Thanksgiving can be about both about the feelings of gratitude and the actual historical account of what happened. By third grade, I am willing and wanting to explore the myths surrounding the holiday, all in an age-appropriate way, of course. It's important to share some of these truths and they prompt some great class discussions. Thankfully, authors have done the important work, so I can just grab some great texts and get to work!
